Active living integrates physical activity into everyday routines. When you move more and sit less, you can offset serious health risks. You’ll also feel better in every way. Your sleep, memory, balance, and even cognitive ability all improve when you exercise.

Make it a goal of yours to spend 2.5 hours in moderate physical activity or just 75 minutes of strong physical activity each week. That’s as little as 10 minutes a day.

How can you move more? Easy. Ride your bike to work, or on one of Joplin’s many trails. Take an evening walk or do a little activity after dinner instead of sitting on your couch.

Joplin and its surrounding communities offer all kinds of traditional and non-traditional spaces for you to be physically active with indoor options for colder months and outdoor spaces for warmer days. With the continued expansion of the regional trail system, you’ll be able to get to work, popular hangouts, or meet-ups at area parks in ways besides your car.
